James Trujillo: Creative Force in the Community and MoF’s Newest Team Member

We are thrilled to welcome James Truillo to the MoF family as our newest team member.

Born in Pueblo County, James carries a deep and meaningful heritage — he is a descendant of the Genizaros, detribalized Native Americans whose roots run deep in the American Southwest. His family has called the Huerfano County area home for several generations, and it is this rich indigenous legacy that sparked his lifelong passion for crafting percussion instruments and ceremonial objects by hand.

In addition to making drums, he also plays them! You can catch him at local open mic nights or playing with the band Traditions. James also enjoys spending time in the outdoors and spoiling his two dogs, Tank and Panda.

Stop by the Museum of Friends to visit with James and see some of his creations firsthand.
