The Museum of Friends (MoF) engages Pre-K–12 students through hands-on, interdisciplinary programs that connect art, science, and community. Rooted in the museum’s commitment to inclusive, place-based learning, these activities foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Students explore topics such as ecology, water, identity, and design while developing problem-solving and observation skills through the lens of local culture and environment.
MoF’s STEAM initiatives include classroom collaborations, guided tours, artmaking workshops, and public art projects like murals and planter installations that beautify shared spaces. Many of these efforts have evolved into long-term partnerships with schools, educators, and civic organizations, supporting youth development and community pride. By nurturing curiosity and creativity, the museum’s children’s programs cultivate the next generation of artists, innovators, and community leaders in Southern Colorado.
