The Museum of Friends
is a nonprofit organization that relies on funding sources for
its activities. This support allows MOF to share its collection
and programs with our audience. It is our hope that greater
audience participation becomes possible and thereby a greater
understanding of contemporary and modern art is achieved.
There are many ways to give to MOF, with many benefits and privileges
available to you in thanks for your generosity. As MOF
was founded on the principle of generosity, it is the way that
it will continue to grow and offer more programs and activities
for our public to enjoy.
Membership
includes 3 exhibition openings invitations yearly.
One T-shirt,
and discounts on programming and Museum Store (10%)
Individual $50.00
Family of 4 $75.00
Annual Fund
MOF was established in 2006 on the upper floor of a commercial
building in downtown Walsenburg. Annual Program costs include
general programming, operational expenses, publication production,
and plans to install an elevator – making MOF accessible
to all who may desire to visit.
Exhibition Support
MOF’s permanent collection includes works that have never
been seen before, kept in storage in the Museum premises. Costs
to frame and mount new works as well as signage, printing, and
research regarding the collection is made possible by your support.
Our first visiting artist Special Exhibition took place in September
08 with Diorbhail Cameron’s Light Boxes, as example of
this category of support. In 09, MOF will present an exhibition
of Italian American Artists in Huerfano County, which is in its
planning stages.
Education Support
MOF’s School-Tour Program is available for students k-12. As
Walsenburg, and the surrounding school districts are economically
depressed currently, your support would help to provide Cultural
Education to students who would normally not be able to attend.
MOF’s College and High-School Internship programs provide
students the opportunity to work within a Museum setting. Our
staff responsible for mentorship in this area are qualified to
teach up through the University level.
Research Library for Artists and Educators including process,
theory and Art History. An on-line catalogue will be available
soon.
Corporate Support (Sponsorship)
Sponsorship at MOF offers significant philanthropic and marketing
opportunities. It allows a company or corporation to
support the only Fine Art Museum in Walsenburg thereby encouraging
cultural development in an Enterprise Zone. All sponsors
with a substantial contribution will be acknowledged with the
printing of their logo on our publications.
Community Outreach and Family Programs MOF launched
a few new and exciting programs in the fall of 08. Yoga
classes are given once a week in the afternoon. Toddler Tuesdays
began in October and offers the parent and young child strategies
to encourage creative growth and development.
